Join the PAC: Over
the years, credit union political action has
successfully offset the bankers attacks on the
credit union system. Despite our success, the
banking industry has only increased their attempts
to stifle our ability to serve our members.
These attacks, along with regulatory and judicial
issues facing credit unions, are the long-term and
ongoing challenges credit unions face. To combat
these challenges it becomes essential that we
continue funding our political action committee.
With your support we work to ensure the ability of
credit unions to offer financial services essential
to our members and invest in the future of the
credit union movement.
Our people are dedicated credit union supporters demonstrating their
commitment to the preservation of credit union uniqueness through
political action.
Our purpose is to protect the credit union
movement by supporting credit union-friendly candidates through
contributions and volunteer activities. Our goal is to educate our
political leaders on the credit union movement and its philosophy of
people helping people.
As a movement, we
must assume a more proactive stance. We must never let ourselves be
put in the position the bankers put us in before H.R. 1151. One way
were making sure that doesnt happen again is through political
fund-raising. Daniel A. Mica, CUNA President and

PAC funds are a crucial component of our governmental affairs program.
Assistance is given to state and federal level congressional candidates
based upon their understanding and support of credit union issues and
legislation.
Contributions are completely nonpartisan. Political
candidates are judged strictly on whether they are favorable to the credit
union movementnot their political party affiliation.
One of
the most exciting changes to the Capitol Club is the
Personal Contribution Program. You can have your
personal contribution amounts count toward to your overall
membership level. In a state that has several
restrictions on PAC funds, personal contributions
are one way the credit union movement can still be
represented to lawmakers.
To make sure that your personal
contributions is recognized,
simply fill out the Personal
Contribution Form either in
the mail version, or the
online version
Capitol Club membership is on an annual basis, from
January 1st to December 31st. Members are
honored twice a year, at the ACUL Annual Meeting,
and again at the ACUL-PAC Awards Dinner held during
the Annual State GAC.
The levels associated with the names of Capitol
Club members only include the current amounts
received or reported and do
not necessarily reflect what the final totals will be. If
you participate in Payroll Deduction, you are given
credit for what your annual giving amounts to.
(For example, if you are signed up for a deduction
of $10, taken out bi-weekly, you are given
credit for $240)
To ensure you are
placed within the correct level, please report all
Personal Contributions.
The
Capitol Club Roster is updated a minimum of once a
quarter. If you
believe the level you have been placed in is
incorrect, please contact our Political Affairs Team at 602-264-6701
